2015 is going to be a big year for me. I graduate this year, and will be heading off to college. That will probably be the first huge change in my life (I'm boring). In the photography sense, I have a list of things I want to do.

My goals:

  • Improve the overall quality of my photos (either by learning to edit with Gimp or getting better, as I'm not buying another camera. The quality of my camera now isn't terrible)
  • Improve my photo-manipulation skills in Gimp (so much easier to do in Photoshop. I made a really cool movie poster for a class in school using it, and I don't know how I'd do that in Gimp)
  • Try incorporating people into some of my photos
  • Get some shots of campuses of colleges I visit (the ones I've visited so far have beautiful campuses)

Places I want to go to get some pictures:

  • Centralia
  • An abandoned amusement park
  • An abandoned laundromat
  • An abandoned section of the PA turnpike
  • Angel Orensanz Foundation in NYC (probably won't get this one in 2015. This one will be hard to photograph)

I hope I actually do any of these.

Very interesting list.

Personally, I recommend "Take Your Photography to the Next Level: From Inspiration to Image" by George Barr. It does not contain all and everything, esprecially not technical stuff, but helped my a lot when it came to composition. I pick it up every now and then, read in it, pick one topic and focus on it in my next photographs.

Or try Jim Krause's "Photo Idea Index".

Or "Urban Exploration Photography: A GUIDE TO CREATING AND EDITING IMAGES OF ABANDONED PLACES" by Todd Sipes.
